Alias Kandinsky Hotel opened for business in the Spring of 2000. Formerly trading as the more traditional Savoy Hotel, the opening of the hotel created a stir with a new style of hospitality and decor. Offering individuality and interesting surroundings at affordable prices.

Soon nicknamed the “the kandi”, the hotel became a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike.  It didn’t take long to establish itself as the home for the after show parties from the numerous festivals, with many high profile guests enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel.

In October 2006 the Alias group was purchased by the UK hotel arm of Swire Properties, with the intention to move the hotel into it’s next phase.  Since that time work has been underway planning and creating a vision for the hotel, and in late Summer 2008 planning permission was granted for a 17 bedroom extension, along with total refurbishment of the regency property.  The innovative design takes into account the local architecture, the beauty of the area and the need for a new approach to conservation and sustainability.
